Welcome to the Center for Human Rights

The Center for Human Rights is established with the mission of promoting human rights through multidisciplinary research, training, and community service programs.
It was established in October 2008 as part of Addis Ababa University’s epistemological and structural shift from a primarily undergraduate studies institution to a research-oriented graduate university. The Center for Human Rights has the mission of advancing the rule of law, democratic governance, and human rights in Ethiopia through high-end research, teaching, and community services.

EJHR – Call for Special Issue
Special Issue: Humanitarian Governance and Human Rights in Ethiopia
The Ethiopian Journal of Human Rights (EJHR) announces a call for paper or a Special Issue on
Humanitarian Governance in Ethiopia.
Background
Ethiopia’s recent conflict dynamics, climate shocks, displacement, and evolving political landscape have
intensified humanitarian needs and exposed complex governance challenges. Issues such as aid coordination,
access restrictions, protection of civilians, localization, accountability, and the politicization of aid require
fresh academic and policy analysis. This special issue seeks concise, evidence-based contributions that deepen
understanding of how humanitarian action is shaped, governed, and experienced in Ethiopia.
