Community Engagement under STRACE – I (2017 - 2022)
Under the project to Support Teaching, Research and Community Engagement –I (STRACE-I) which was implemented from 2017 to 2022, the following results were made:
Provided various types of free legal aid services to a total of 211,091 target beneficiaries.
Enhanced the capacity of 401 local government officials through human rights training.
Raised the awareness of human rights among members of local communities through broadcasting 242 local radio programs in Oromifa and Amharic languages.
Enhanced the awareness of the public about human rights through various forms of arts by sponsoring about 23 local informal art-groups.
Community Rights Promoters (CRPs) conducted face –to face teachings about human rights utilizing platforms created in the day to day working environments of key stakeholders such as courts, bureaus of women and children affairs, and social and labor affairs . During the span of this project , they reached 244,448 beneficiaries through their face to face teachings .
