STRACE II Project

Community Engagement under STRACE – II (Since 2023 - Present)

Under the Project of Support Teaching, Research and Community Engagement -II (STRACE-II) , the Center further strengthened its areas of engagement with local communities by providing free legal aid services, capacity building of local government Officials , awareness raising activities using radiobroadcasting and artistic methods to reach the public . Accordingly, from January 2023- December 2024, the Center;

  • Provided free legal aid services to 6,951 beneficiaries in all project sites in Adama, Ambo, Addis Ababa, Debrebirhan and Hawassa.
  • Trained 117 local government officials to ehance their respect and protect human rights.
  • Broadcasted 30 radio programs (15 in Oromifa and 15 in Amharic) to raise public awareness about human rights.
  • Continued to engage 10 local informal art-groups to enhance human rights awareness of the public through literary and other art forms.
  • Community Rights Promoters (CRPs) raised human rights awareness of the public through their face – to – face teachings to a total of 42,017 beneficiaries in year one of this project.
